Paying tribute to one of the greatest stars of Tejano music, this First Day Cover (6 3/4 envelope) bears an affixed Lydia Mendoza (Forever®) stamp and an official First Day of Issue color postmark.
The stamp honoring Mendoza, who was known as La Alondra de la Frontera, the Lark of the Border, is the first in the new Music Icons series.
The square stamp captures the look of a vintage 45 rpm record sleeve and features a black-and-white photo of Mendoza with the flag of Texas superimposed over the singer's image. Designed to suggest a vinyl disk sliding from its cover, the color postmark showcases custom typography and includes the official date and location of the stamp issuance.
Made in the USA.
