    Shirley Chisholm First Day Cover

Honor a cultural and political pioneer with this Shirley Chischolm First Day Cover (#6 3/4 envelope) featuring an affixed Shirley Chisholm Forever® stamp. Painted by Robert Shetterly, the stamp art depicts a color portrait of Chisholm, the first black woman ever elected to Congress. In the black pictorial cancellation, a silhouette of the U.S. Capitol building's dome cancels the stamp, with Chisholm's name appearing in a banner-like formation beneath.

Also included are the Black Heritage series name and the official date and location of stamp issuance.

Shirley Chisholm (1924-2005) was an outspoken politician who shattered barriers of race and gender in the 1960s and 1970s; she also ran for president in 1972, becoming the first African American and only the second woman to seek the nomination of a major political party.

    Made in the USA.
