Year after year, the United States stamp program celebrates our nation's classics — the people, places, and events that endure. Trends and one-hit wonders come and go, but the Postal Service™ is proud to present this quarter's lineup of stamps with lasting appeal.
In 1993 the USPS issued the Elvis Presley stamp, one of the most pppular designs of all time, and with it introduced pop culture into the program. Now, 22 years later, The King of Rock and Roll™ appears again, as part of the Music Icons series honoring American music greats, and this time as a Forever® stamp. Both the 1993 and the 2015 stamps are included in The Forever Elvis Collection shown on the back cover.
Joining Elvis Presley is another legendary performer, Ingrid Bergman — the 19th issuance in the popular Legends of Hollywood series. Jointly issued by the U.S. Postal Service® and Posten AB of Sweden, the stamp honors the award-winning Swedish actress who repeatedly lit up the silver screen, including a classic performance in Casablanca , depicted on the selvage.
And there are more timeless stamps to be discovered. New categories of nondenominated stamps are now available — many for the first time. Like Forever® stamps, these new issues will always be valid for the rate printed on them. They're shown on pages 6, 7, and 27, along with a handy reference (page 7) that describes the various rate categories and includes details about the new
designs with ideas for collecting.
Lastly, it's not too early to start thinking about the 2016 World Stamp Show in New York City, part of a 100-year tradition of international exhibitions held in the United States only once a
decade. Reminiscent of elegant engraved 19th-century stamps, the new World Stamp Show-NY 2016 pair hints at the rarities and amazing events that await us at next year’s show
